Case Study

Increased Production Volumes & Greater Efficiency

Location: Port Hedland WA
Material Type : Basalt
Bulk Density: 1.55m3
Stockpile  Size: 20mm

The Problem:

Background: Customer was looking to increase production volumes and stockpile capacity of -20mm crushed product. Current production was limited by the existing stacker to around 250-275TPH.

The Situation: Smaller, much older and non Australian supported model of stacker onsite. Unit struggled to keep up with tonnage demand and stockpile volumn was also not large enough meaning an additional loader was required to pull material away from the created stockpile.

The Solution:

New Situation: OPS supplied a brand new Telestack TC424X Tracked Stockpiler that met all the customers’ requirements. The units Australian spec build options (Hot climate cooler, Caterpillar engine, wider belt) enabled the customer to increase overall plant production. With the TC424X in place the cone feeding the unit was able to be sped up and tonnages of around 325-350TPH. The higher stockpile volume also allowed for more material to be crushed in one position meaning less reliance on the loader to move material around.

Key Outcomes: The ability to increase production levels meant better usage of the cone crusher feeding the unit was possible. The higher stockpiles also meant the loader tailing out does not have to work as hard to keep up meaning a decrease in fuel and wear and tear on the GET.

Fixing It Cost Less Than Replacing It

Cone Crusher had a failure which might have meant scrapping the unit. But OPS rebuilt the chamber for approximately 19% of the cost of replacement.

Mobile Plant Instead of Costly Upgrades

The client wanted to increase gold production however the cost to upgrade the fixed crushing circuit or mill was prohibitive. So OPS provided a mobile crushing circuit.

The Right Equipment Makes the Difference

The client needed a solution to crush and screen existing stockpiles of already crushed Basalt. Their current equipment was not able to screen out all the required sizes.
